Lister Jaguar Knobbly 1st Silverstone 1958 #29 Moss by Renaissance
Rather confusingly, both of these kits offer winning cars from Silverstone in 1958. Stirling Moss won the sports car support race the Grand Prix in the factory car and a few months earlier Masten Gregory took the spoils in the International Trophy with the Ecurie Ecosse machine, beating Archie Scott-Brown in the works car along the way, the only time he was beaten by another Lister driver. The basic kit parts are very similar in each kit though the Moss car has an extra intake scoop moulded in and the instructions tell us to make the additional vent on the nose which was added just before the race from a piece of the etch sprue, though there is no template. Those instructions also suggest that Hansgen’s car can be built from the same race, it can’t. Another race winner is buildable from the Ecurie Ecosse kit though, Gregory won at Spa after Scott-Brown’s accident in car #17, so it is only a number change from the #18 Silverstone car shown in the instructions. Overall pretty good kits and ones that we are sure will be popular, crossing so many collecting themes as they do. As usual, there is a fine white protective film to be pealed from the vacforms, so please don’t email and tell us they’re cloudy.

About Renaissance
Excellent kits and conversion sets (for plastic) using resin bodies, white metal parts, lots of very fine photo-etching and good decals. Some castings need cleaning. Excellent instructions. Classic subjects (REN43 refs) are relatively simple builds, while the Integral series (RENI) of more modern subjects are a little more complex. Made in France
