Maserati 250F 10th Italy 1954 #28 Moss by SMTS
The parts in the kits here are the same apart from the decals as the three variants depicts the same chassis (2508) in a number of different colour schemes. Originally Moss raced the privately entered car in patriotic British Racing Green but from Germany onwards he ran on international events in Maserati red. For 1955 Moss had a works Mercedes contract but still entered the car in non-championship races for a variety of drivers and also took the wheel himself on occasion. By now the car was painted pale grey with a patriotic red, white and blue noseband. The hand built models are all well finished and neatly detailed, though the green of the first version is a little lighter than we’re used to seeing when the car is modelled. It’s an attractive shade and with colour reproductions from the time not being great and the car only wearing the green for a short time, it’s not necessarily wrong.
