Ruhrfahrzeugbau Pinguin II by Autocult
When unveiled at the 1953 Frankfurt motorcycle show, this microcar was described, rather tongue in cheek, by observers as the “three wheeled Porsche”. Unfortunately the handling left a lot to be desired and with the weight at 450kg instead of the target 280kg, performance from its 200c.c. engine was a little underwhelming too. The car modelled here appears to be the prototype as it has no front luggage area and rear hinged doors but we have also found a photo of an example with conventional doors, an opening at the front and rear quarter windows but we have no captions with the images of both versions. As it stands the model is well finished and matches one of the cars photographed!

A relatively new maker of very well finished resincast models, established in 2015. Very imaginative choice of subjects, often concentrating on the more eccentric episodes in motoring history! Production limited to 333 pieces of each subject, which often means that we get one delivery and that is it, so pre-orders strongly recommended!! Made in China for Germany.
