Ferrari 512M 3rd Daytona 24hrs 1971 #6 Sunoco 1:18 by CMR
Although it looked very much like the other Ferrari 512S cars raced in 1971,
chassis 1040 was a very different beast. Like many of the competitors, it started life a couple of years earlier as a 512S and having passed through used Ferrari dealer Kirk White to Penske’s team, benefitted from the engineering prowess of Penske and Donohue finessing every aspect of the car .
At Daytona a win looked to be on the cards but for a heavy accident, yet despite having to replace the suspension on one side of the car, Donohue and Hobbs still finished 3rd!
Modelled in resin, this 1:18 miniature by Classic Model Replicars captures this beautiful machine superbly and is all finished to a very high standard.
