Volvo P1900 Convertible 1956 by Neo

The P1900 (also known as the Volvo Sport) was Volvo’s first attempt at a sportscar and the inspiration came from Chevrolet’s Corvette. Like the rather more successful American machine, the bodyshell was made in fibreglass, mounted on a tubular chassis with production car mechanical components, in this case taken from the PV444. Build quality was apparently very poor and only sixty-six units were sold, new Volvo president Gunnar Engellau cancelling production having used an example for a motoring holiday and returning saying that he thought the car would fall apart around him! Neo have done a decent job of modelling this rare machine and their treatment of the windscreen frame is particularly good, with a folded etch structure that includes sun visors. Very smart.
