Aston Martin Nimrod Le Mans 1982 #31 by SMTS

Kit available RL130
The last time that an Aston Martin V8 had been seen in a mid-engined prototype at Le Mans had been in the Lola T70 in the late 1960s and it was one of Eric Broadley’s chassis which formed the core of the Nimrod in 1982. It was a heavy car as a result of using this old technology but did not lack power and the #32 car managed to finish a creditable seventh overall (#31 crashed after tyre failure). SMTS’ model is also rather heavy, thanks to this large machine being modelled in white metal, as is their normal technique. The overall shape of the car looks good and the small details, such as different treatment of the windscreen top and the style of mirrors, have been well observed. The decals are clearly printed and applied over decent paint finishes and overall these make for very attractive, if traditional, models.
