In terms of basic body shape, Jade have done a reasonable job with Aston Martin’s second F1 racer and the kit is in their typical style with a cleanly cast resin body, decent wire wheels and simple etch for the suspension. It is on the suspension that things fall down a little this time as the hand built models demonstrate a significant discrepancy between the track width front and rear. It is the front that is too narrow and fixing this for kit builders could be fiddly unless the wheels can be spaced slightly as the etched suspension wishbones looks to be on the short side. In that front suspension we see fine coil springs and yet the DBR5 ran with torsion bar suspension and so had simple telescopic dampers on the front. Interestingly on some of the photos that accompany the kit the cars are seen pre-race with coil springs in place but on track without them. Helper springs for transport perhaps? The choice is yours as to whether or not to include them in your build.

About Jade Miniatures
A well established range of well thought out kits and hand built models of competition cars, mostly from the golden era of the 1950s and 60s. The kits are generally pretty simple with well cast resin bodies, small numbers of resin and white metal ancillaries and a modest amount of etch. In the case of open wheeled subjects, the etch usually includes most or all of the suspension. Hand builts generally well finished. Made in France.
