The coachwork of Jaques Saoutchik was often dramatic but this series of Cadillacs must go down as among the most flambouyant designs that he ever laid down and this provides a challenge for model makers. We have photos of two of the cars in the colour schemes depicted here, both at Pebble Beach in 2006 and assume that the white and mauve car is a third chassis. The colours on the black and mauve hand built look very good though the lighter colour on the violet and mauve one is a little too rich, The finish of the hand builts is generally good but accuracy less so, with many lines not being right, particularly in the area behind the doors. Looking closely at the kit parts, the builts and the photos of the real cars, this is an error of painting rather than of modelling and can be rectified during building should you take the kit option, though if you choose the version with the basketwork effect side panels the decals provided aren't quite the right shape but they have been deliberately printed oversize to allow for some trimming and adjustment. Certainly a brave effort by ABC and striking models in their own right, but they haven't quite hit the target.
