In terms of quantity of information, this is the thickest volume that we think we’ve seen in this excellent little series and it charts the story of John Wyer’s Mirage racers from the inception of the project in 1967 through to the last appearance at Le Mans in 1982 when the team fell foul of typical ACO politics minutes before race start. McDonough’s text is typically well written and informative and there are a great many photos showing the developments of these cars and their race appearances. Some of the images used are pretty poor quality while others are superb and if we have to put up with less than perfect shots to get a rare glimpse of the beautiful but temperamental V12 coupe on track, than we can live with that.
