Australia's Elfin Sports And Racing Cars by Book
This is a reprint of a book first published in Australia in 1997 and tells the story of Australia’s answer to Lotus or Cooper. The man with the vision was named Cooper, in this case Garrie, and from the fifties to the eighties he was the second largest producer of racing cars in the world! As with so many racers and car builders of the era, Cooper’s career started with an Austin 7 special and he soon moved on to streamlined sportscars using BMC engines. Most of his cars remained in the southern hemisphere, which is why they haven’t received the recognition that they deserved and chassis were built for a huge range of series from those early sportscars, through Formula Vee and Formula Ford, Formula Three, Group 7 and F5000. The original book was a self published effort, so the layout and reproduction is very basic with black and white images only. There are plenty of reproduced original documents giving specifications etc, and overall it makes for a very interesting read on a little known (outside Australia) manufacturer.
