McLaren, The Wins by Book
Published by Coterie Press in the same format as their McLaren and Lotus catalogues which are such useful volumes in our library, this takes a slightly different look at the history of the McLaren marque and perhaps the most important one seeing as they are in the business of winning. We start at the 1964 LA Times Grand Prix where Bruce McLaren won in his first eponymous sportscar on only its second competitive outing and though the story is far from over a line had to be drawn somewhere and it’s under victory 636 for Lewis Hamilton in China 2011. Can-Am and Formula 1 races make up much of the content but let’s not forget that McLaren chassis have also been successful in Indycars, Le Mans, F5000, F1, Formula Libre and even hillclimb events. A fascinating volume with plenty of photos to accompany the informative text and detailed tables.
