Isle Of Man Car Races 1904 - 1953 by Book
Weight 1.3kg by Neil Hanson
These days we think of the Isle of Man and motorsport in terms to the TT motorcycle races, but in the first half of the Twentieth Century the island was an important venue for four-wheeled racing too. 1904 saw the Gordon Bennett speed trials with the first Tourist Trophy the following year (the bike races started in 1911) on a long road course covering most of the island. There were further TT races through to the 1920s and then in the 1930s these long course events gave way to various short course races around Douglas. The stories of all of the races are included here and there are maps showing the various circuit layouts. These maps are the only colour included but there are various period photographs of varying quality reproduced throughout to illustrate the story. An interesting, important and often overlooked chapter of motorsport history.
