Matra MS640 1st Le Mans 1972 #15 Pescarolo/Hill by Ixo
The new 3 litre prototype regulations for Le Mans in 1972 suited the Matras well and the and for much of the race two of the cars traded the lead before rain and traffic intervened late on to hand a dominant victory to Henri Pescarolo and Graham Hill. It was to be the first of three consecutive wins for Matra and Pescarolo, while Graham Hill became the first, and still only, man to win the F1 World Championship, Indy 500 and Le Mans. Ixo’s model is very well finished as usual with neat masking between the blue and white paint and neatly applied decals. Overall the shape looks pretty good and the decals are carefully placed and we even see some little etched clips around the base of the airbox.
