Triumph TR3 Coupe des Alps 1956 Works by K & R Replicas

In the mid-1950s Triumph competitions boss Ken Richardson was very proud that the factory rally cars were near to standard and just very carefully assembled and this was born out when five of the seven cars that started the Alpine rally finished in the first five places in class. Ironically the only non-finishing works entry was that of Richardson himself who had a wheel fall off. Five decal options are included in the kit but colours are only specified for the four factory entries. It was Richardson’s Alpine car that was then prepared for the Mille Miglia the following year, a large fuel tank filling the boot, and this was driven by Nancy Mitchell who was running well until puncturing the radiator. The base parts in both kits are, as we’d expect, extremely similar and the castings will need minimal clean up. The wire wheels are in kit form with etched spokes but otherwise the vast majority of the parts are cast metal.

About K & R Replicas

Well cast and easy to build, if rather crude, metal kits. Usually accurate though occasionally a bit odd. Wire wheels of the self - assembly type. Decals, when included, often slightly yellow (typical of many English makers) but will bleach with exposure to u.v. light. Now including a little more photo-etch. Made in England.
