Lotus 15 Le Mans 1959 #30 Hill/Jolly by MEA Kit 43
Lotus 15 Le Mans 1959 #30
Hand built available MEA059M
The Lotus 15 was a derivative of the 11 and typically ran with 2 or 2½ litre engines. This example had the smaller of the two units at Le Mans and was running strongly, Hall apparently dicing with Innes Ireland in a D Type Jaguar, before engine failure halted play. MEA’s model captures the shape of the car well and the clearly printed decals are accurately sized and well placed on the hand built. The main resin parts in the kit will need careful cleaning up but that done the finished model shows that they go together well. What has been missed are the spring fasteners which held the front and rear body sections closed so you may wish to add these (RENA031).

About MEA Kit 43
An interesting range initially specialising in 1:43 motorcycles. The nature of the subjects and the size of many of the parts mean that these are best suited to those with good eyesight! Casting quality can be variable and this combined with the size puts them firmly in the 'for the experienced modeller' category.
Alongside the bikes are a number of Dakar raid subjects and early Lotus race cars, again offered as kits and hand builts. SPL series are hand built only and concentrate on very unusual race cars. Build quality is variable, basic and nowhere near the class leaders. They are usually presented in recycled Spark cases. Very interesting subject matter though.
Made in France.
