Delahaye 163D 1959 Rizla by Provence Moulage
Delahaye 163D Tour de France 1959 Rizla
We usually associate Delahaye with luxurious cars but they were also manufacturers of commercial vehicles with a specific interest in fire engines! This rather unusual promotional vehicle was used on the Tour de France cycle race in 1959 and the unique body is believed to have been created in Belgium. The large intakes on either side above the cab and similar on the rear are actually for loud speakers and the van would announce the arrival of the race in various towns while staff would hand out packets of cigarette papers and other promotional material from a shutter at the rear. It’s a fabulous looking machine and great fun which is, after all, what hobbies such as model collecting are supposed to be about.
