Porsche 911 GT1/97 FIA-GT 97 #17 JMB by Renaissance
It has been over ten years since we last saw a new Renaissance superkit release and many readers may not even be aware that they exist. These kits really are projects for the experienced builder but for those with good enough eyesight and the patience they build magnificent models. The majority of the kit components are in resin with the bodywork made up of a central tub, one piece lift off rear, two part lift off front and individual doors. The chassis has full engine and suspension detail, with a number of turned parts incorporated here, and there is a wealth of photo-etch for the tiny finishing details. Several decal sheets are provided, with plenty of carbon fibre for the interior and underside. To guide you through all this there are eleven pages of instructions, three of which are colour close up photos of a real car to help with the chassis and interior finishing. If the idea of the full on superkit is a bit daunting, there’s still a fair amount of detail in the regular kit of the same car and here we are given the choice of building the car closed or, for the more adventurous, with one or both doors open. The subject is the same car, driven by Baldi and Collard to ninth overall in the FIA GT race at Sebring in October 1997 and the decals are complete with all correct sponsorship.

About Renaissance
Excellent kits and conversion sets (for plastic) using resin bodies, white metal parts, lots of very fine photo-etching and good decals. Some castings need cleaning. Excellent instructions. Classic subjects (REN43 refs) are relatively simple builds, while the Integral series (RENI) of more modern subjects are a little more complex. Made in France
