Opel Kadett GTE Gr2 San Remo 77 #20 1:24 by Arena
This is the first new 1:24th scale release from Arena for some time and the kit parts look very good indeed. The main bodyshell is well proportioned and the main surfaces are nice and clean, we can see a couple of bubbles lurking but they are right on the lower edges. The majority of the ancillary parts are also resin and we see individual interior door panels, seats, dashboard, spot lights, mirrors and multi-part wheels in the resin bags. The inner wheel rims are very, very thin in places, so care will be needed here though it looks as if the dangerously transparent bits will be hidden. The tyres are black resin, so this may well help where the rims are concerned. The roll cage is in white metal and there are two sheets of very good photo-etch for the window frames and lots of small details. The decals are clearly printed and include the blue stripes, leaving the yellow and black to be masked and sprayed, with a crisp swage line to mask to. . The instructions consist of several excellent colour photos of finished models and a simple drawing showing the etch and how to assemble the seat belts. Hopefully this is enough for the more experienced builder here!

About Arena
Accurate, well detailed resin kits with white metal ancillaries and excellent photo-etched details. Instructions sometimes slightly vague but normally adequate. Castings on some subjects can be a little rough but more recent releases have all been excellent. Due to the amount of etch, they can be quite fiddly to build but in experienced hands make excellent miniatures. Hand built models also available to order. Made in Italy.
