Porsche 911SC 12th Monte Carlo 1980 Almeras 1:24 by Arena
Porsche 911SC 12th Monte 1980 Almeras 1:24
There’s a huge amount of cleanly cast resin to get stuck into in these two kits, but you will have to be careful trimming the parts away from the often quite significant feed tags. The way the parts are cast does mean that there are no obvious bubbles though, so paint preparation is straightforward. The engine cover can be opened and a full motor is in there but, although the instructions show routing for oil lines and wiring, you will need to add parts from your parts stock if wanting to fully detail this area. Two tone paint finishes are needed, a very simple case of matching the bumpers to the decals in the Waldegaard kit and a slightly more complex job on the Almeras version as the wheel arches and side panels will need masking, but the panel engraving around the arches is nice and crisp and fine white decal stripes are included to hide the paint join which will simplify things significantly.

About Arena
Accurate, well detailed resin kits with white metal ancillaries and excellent photo-etched details. Instructions sometimes slightly vague but normally adequate. Castings on some subjects can be a little rough but more recent releases have all been excellent. Due to the amount of etch, they can be quite fiddly to build but in experienced hands make excellent miniatures. Hand built models also available to order. Made in Italy.
