Porsche 935 Giro D'Italia 1977 #537 by Arena

Porsche 935 Giro 1977 #537
Hand built available ARE785M
‘Victor’s nom de guerre proved prophetic on the Giro in 1977, the Italian wining the event alongside Monticone in their silver 935. The same car and driver combination also appeared carrying a little more sponsorship and race #512 the following year and in 1979 we see our man in an orange 935. Two variants are offered for the 1979 car with the choice of a rally style array of extra lights for the road sections or a smoother front end for the actual races. A familiar name from Italian competition of the 70s and 80s, Martino Finotto, featured in the pretty Jolly Club machine on the Giro in 1977 and at Daytona in 1978, and in a plain white machine on his domestic event later in ‘78. The core kit parts are all very similar with crisply moulded resin for the majority of components, white metal for smaller parts such as the roll cage, and machined wheel rims. There’s plenty of etch but close attention will be needed here as some of the smaller details are only needed on certain versions. The instructions include a generic assembly drawing and colour photos of the finished model for placement of the clearly printed decals and the other final details.

About Arena

Accurate, well detailed resin kits with white metal ancillaries and excellent photo-etched details. Instructions sometimes slightly vague but normally adequate. Castings on some subjects can be a little rough but more recent releases have all been excellent. Due to the amount of etch, they can be quite fiddly to build but in experienced hands make excellent miniatures. Hand built models also available to order. Made in Italy.
