Porsche 917 Nurburgring 1000kms 1969 #61 Gardner/Piper by Automodelli Studio

Porsche 917 Nurburgring 1969 #61
The Nurburgring 1000kms was the second race start for the 917 and its first finish. Unsorted handling made it something of a handful, so-much-so the works drivers refused to race it initially, so Piper and Gardner were entrusted with the machine. The basic shape of the body looks very good but care will be needed when cleaning up the resin body as there are a fair number of small bubbles in the lower surfaces and the rear spoiler is a very delicate lip cast on to the trailing edge of the body. Etch might have been a better solution here and there are some nice fine etched parts for the brakes and wiper. The other resin parts are much cleaner and there is a decent engine moulded into the chassis plate which will be visible through the rear windscreen. Decoration is very simple with a base white paint finish needed and the inkjet printed decals are clear, but you will have to cut them close due to the nature of the printing process.

About Automodelli Studio

An interesting range of mostly Australian oriented subjects. Some subjects are based on other makers' castings where suitable (Marsh Models, Jemmpy & SMTS the most commonly used) while others are made entirely in house. Decals often laser or inkjet printed, but still with good bright colours and clarity. Most kits included a modest amount of etched detailing. Made in Australia
