Ford Mustang ATCC 1965 Geoghegan by Automodelli Studio

These well cast metal kit parts have been made for Automodelli Studio by SMTS, who also provide the basic assembly instructions, with colour placement guides created in Australia. The main decal sheets have one or two omissions and errors in a couple of cases, so pay close attention to the colour sheet and additional decals for corrections. Norm Beechey was the first to race a Mustang in Australia and the performance of his car led to other leading drivers Bob Jane and Pete Geoghegan quickly following suit, Beechey winning the ATCC title in 1965 and Geoghegan dominating for the next four years. Beechey’s car ran on disc wheels and resin items are included for these, though they are four stud items which are better suited to a Cortina than a Mustang. The other cars ran on alloy wheels for improved brake cooling. Decoration on all of the cars is attractive, particularly the later Geoghegan version and the car of Bryan Thompson. The photos of finished models supplied by Automodelli check out pretty well with the real car images on the instructions. Well made and interesting alternatives for fans of big banger saloon cars.

About Automodelli Studio

An interesting range of mostly Australian oriented subjects. Some subjects are based on other makers' castings where suitable (Marsh Models, Jemmpy & SMTS the most commonly used) while others are made entirely in house. Decals often laser or inkjet printed, but still with good bright colours and clarity. Most kits included a modest amount of etched detailing. Made in Australia
