March 2026 marked a new era for the new Formula 1 regulations with cars featuring active aerodynamic wings and a shorter wheelbase. After a good race in Australia, the script repeats itself in the Chinese Grand Prix but with the roles reversed between the two Ferrari drivers. Behind the two Mercedes, Hamilton scored his first podium with Ferrari in a long race. Fourth place for Leclerc. The Ferraris got a perfect start: Hamilton took the lead ahead of Kimi Antonelli and Leclerc overtook Russell and achieved third place. On lap 10, the Safety Car came out and the top four all pitted immediately to take on Hard tyres, aiming to go all the way to the chequered flag. The Mercedes drivers had better pace and was able to lead the race . Hamilton and Leclerc had a close but always fair duel for the final podium position, changing places almost a dozen times. In the end,  Hamilton kept the third position and Leclerc crossed the line after three and a half seconds.
