Ferrari 246 1st Italy 1960 #20 by Bee Bop
Kit available TRO303P
The 1960 Italian Grand Prix was historically significant because Phil Hill’s victory was the last World Championship Grand Prix win for a front-engined car. Ferrari completed a clean sweep of the podium with Ginther and Mairesse in near identical machines, though it was a slightly hollow victory as the only factory opposition was from Porsche, the other teams boycotting the race over safety concerns. Tron’s models are well finished with excellent paint and neatly trimmed vacforms for the windscreen and intake cover. Inside the cockpit we see neat chassis framing and the basic shape isn’t bad. Seeing photos of the mechanics pushing the cars to the start line does suggest the models may be slightly on the large side.
