Ferrari 246 V12 Tasman 1961 #19 Hoare by Bee Bop
Kit available TRO312P
For Ferrari, a customer requesting special cars for the Tasman and Argentinian formula Libre races was a handy way of recycling obsolete parts. So it was that a Dino chassis was fitted with a 250TR engine and shipped to Pat Hoare, who used it to great effect winning several races to become New Zealand champion. Bee Bop’s well finished model appears to be from the street race in Napier, the race numbers and chequered noseband matching race photos. It’s an interesting and unusual chapter in Ferrari’s history, as it would appear was the relationship between Hoare and Ferrari, the former having been a soldier serving it Italy during the war when they met.
