Team Lotus, My View From The Pit Wall by Book
Peter Warr was a permanent fixture in the F1 paddock for twenty years between 1969 and 1989, initially with Lotus, then Wolf and then back to Lotus, taking over after Colin Chapman’s untimely death. His history with Lotus went back much further, to the early days of the company behind Stan Chapman’s pub in Hornsey. Sadly Warr died before his memoirs of the races, cars, drivers and, most important to him, race mechanics could be published, so Simon Taylor has put the finishing touches to the manuscript. It’s a fascinating read and gives a very candid account of period of motorsport which saw huge changes in the levels of expenditure and professionalism. Some of the anecdotes about the early days are particularly interesting and entertaining.
