The subtitle of this comprehensive look into TWR’s ETC Jaguars is ‘Inside Tom Walkinshaw’s Group A Racing Team’ and who better to have as an inside man than the one who ran the engine building shop? Allan Scott is a Kiwi who had experience with Mazda rotary engines and came to the UK in 1979 to work on TWR’s RX7 race programme. He soon became responsible for engine development and was in at the beginning of the XJS project. The level of detail in this book is impressive and there are reproductions of period documents and a wealth of period images, many previously unpublished, to illustrate the engaging text. Not light reading by any means but a very interesting view of a very exciting period of touring car racing.
