Alpine Renault, The fabulous Berlinettes by Book
Weight 1.7kg by Roy Smith
Although much has been published about the History of the Alpine Renaults over the years, the vast majority of it has been in French and this is the first history in English. The story starts with that of Renault and it is in the 1950s that Dieppe Renault agent Jean Rédélé created his first special using the compact running gear of the 4CV. These cars started as sporting road cars with occasional competition entries but during the 1960s and 70s the A110 became one of the most competitive cars in rallying, particularly in its native France. This very well written history is lavishly illustrated throughout and guides us through the story to the present day, where the cars are still sought after in historic competition and by enthusiastic owners as road cars. To round things off there are comprehensive results charting entries in all significant competitions.
