The partnership which became Vels Parnelli Jones Racing team started in the mid-1950s when California car dealer Vel Miletich wanted to start a race team and local driver Parnelli Jones was looking for a sponsor. Forty years later they were still working together! The main focus of this beautiful publication is the machines created and run by the partnership and their team from 1960 through to the mid-1970s. Many of the cars survive and these are subject to atmospheric studio photo shoots each of which is supplemented with carefully selected period shots, results for the car in question and text placing it in the overall story. Parnelli Jones is best known for the Indy 500, but there are also short track dirt racers, F1, F5000, Baja racers and drag racing machines featured.
