Manx Car Races: The Golden Years 1904-1953 -- Volume 1 by Book
Manx car Races, The Golden Years 1904-1953
Weight 800g by Neil Hanson
The Isle of Man is best known these days for the annual TT motorcycle road races but the mountain course also played host to four wheeled racing in some of the pioneering car races. There was a break from 1922 to 1933 at which time racing returned to the roads but on various much shorter courses around the streets of the capital Douglas. There was another break from 1937 to 1947 and then racing resumed again. These races attracted many big names and a huge variety of machinery and the Keig family photographic business on the island recorded the races from the first in 1904 right through until 1982. This superb selection of black and white photos takes us up until 1953 and local enthusiast, lawyer and Clerk of the Course for the TT, Manx GP and Manx Rally, Neil Hanson, takes us through them telling us who, what and where. Intriguing.
