Mark Donohue - His Life In Photographs by Book
This is author Micheal Argetsinger's second book on the life of Mark Donohue, the first being what is considered by many to be the definitive biography of this great American racer. Here is a photographic history drawing on a huge wealth of resources from professional photographers, friends and the Donohue family. We follow Donohue's life from early school days, through the acquisition of his first car, a 1937 Ford that his father gave him to drive on the family property at the age of thirteen, years before he could legally drive on the road and on to his career as first amateur and then professional racing driver. Mark was a talented engineer as well as one of the best drivers of his generation and we often see him with his head in the engine bay of a fellow competitor's car in the early days, helping out in the true clubman's spirit. We then step up to the professional career and see the versatility of this great driver, racing in Trans-Am, Can-Am, Formula 1 and Indycars. The photographs chosen throughout the book give us as much of a look behind the scenes as they do of the racing and a great many are previously unseen in public. A very fine publication.
