Tyler Alexander was one of the original members of Bruce McLaren’s team, joining as a mechanic in 1964 and rising to be head of engineering and a company director before leaving to return to his native America in 1982. He returned in 1990 and remained with the company until retirement in 2009. One of Alexander’s great hobbies is photography and throughout his periods of work with the company, his camera was never far away. This is a selection of the images that he took over a period of nearly fifty years. We see behind the scenes in the early days as cars are tested at Goodwood or built up in the workshops, there is some race action too but the vast majority of the images are candid shots of drivers and other team personnel, both at work and play
