Porsche 718 and 804 by Book
weight 2.5kg by Jorg-Thomas Fodisch
This dual language (German & English) volume tells the story of the development and racing career of Porsche's 1.5 litre Grand Prix machines from the inception of the project in the mid fifties to the withdrawal of Porsche from Grand Prix racing in mid 1964 following the death of Carel Godin de Beaufort in practice for the German Grand Prix. To start there is some background of the Porsche company and there is lots of behind the scenes information from the race shop. The races contested are reported on in a fair level of detail, there are profiles of the many drivers who raced the cars and to wrap things up at the end there are detailed entry and results listing. Throughout there are plenty of carefully selected period photos, many of which are in colour, and one chapter which will be of particular interest to modellers is the close up study of the building of the eight cylinder 804 which is packed with detail close up shots.
