weight 2.3kg by Ulrich Upietz
There is no other marque which has given as much to sportscar racing as Porsche have over the years and this annual celebration of the racing exploits of the cars from Stuttgart reflects the huge range of events that they participate in. As scene setters we start with a celebration of the fortieth birthday of the legendary 917 and also a brief look at the activities of Porsche at another great German name, the Nurburging. On to the modern racing and we start in North America with the American Le Mans Series. Then to Europe for the LMS and back across the Atlantic again for Grand-Am and several other American national championships. There's the Asian Le Mans series next and then we're in Europe for FIA GT and GT3 and a number of national championships in France, Germany, Belgium and a few others. This is only first quarter of the book! Porsche support one make series all over the world and these are all given plenty of exposure highlighting the colourful machinery involved whether in the UK, Australia, the USA or France. Although most of them are included in other championships, the various 24 hour races are considered on their own here so we have detailed reports on Daytona, Le Mans, Spa, the Nurburgring, Dubai and Zolder too. A very, very comprehensive review of Porsche racing activities.
