Porsche 718/8 Spyder LM/SR 1963 by Jade Miniatures

Porsche's eight cylinder 718/8 Spyder was used by the factory in all manner of events from hillclimbs to the Le Mans 24 hours and this kit reflects that versatility offering no fewer than eleven possible build options. Six of those are from hillclimbs, Porsche winning every round of the European Hillclimb Championship in 1963 and Edgar Barth taking the title ahead of team mate Heine Walter. There are also two cars each from the Nurburgring 1000kms and Targa Florio and the eighth placed entry of Barth & Linge from Le Mans on the decal sheet. The kit parts are typically simple Jade with a very well cast resin body, more resin for the chassis (with integrally moulded seats), wheels and exhaust, a handful of small metal parts and a few select pieces of photo-etch.

About Jade Miniatures

A well established range of well thought out kits and hand built models of competition cars, mostly from the golden era of the 1950s and 60s. The kits are generally pretty simple with well cast resin bodies, small numbers of resin and white metal ancillaries and a modest amount of etch. In the case of open wheeled subjects, the etch usually includes most or all of the suspension. Hand builts generally well finished. Made in France.
