Maserati 250F 2nd NZ 1958 Jensen by Jade Miniatures

These nicely finished models all offer interesting privately entered versions of the Maserati 250F. All of the models depict the same chassis, number 2508, at various stages in its illustrious career. It was originally Moss’s car and the first model here shows it in British Racing Green. When Moss didn’t race the car it was entered for other drivers and following some unlucky races was repainted dove grey. Macklin drove the car to 8th in the British GP in the grey with broad white stripes and with a Union Jack flag painted around the nose band. Hawthorn’s London Trophy winner is painted in white with the nose band (this one we’re not totally sure about but it does look white in period photos) and then we’re back to grey for Moss’ New Zealand GP winner. The car remained in NZ with Ross Jensen who also raced it in grey and was then sold to Johnny Mansel who had it refinished in the national colours of black and white. And there we have a potted history of one car, all provided as very well finished hand built models.

About Jade Miniatures

A well established range of well thought out kits and hand built models of competition cars, mostly from the golden era of the 1950s and 60s. The kits are generally pretty simple with well cast resin bodies, small numbers of resin and white metal ancillaries and a modest amount of etch. In the case of open wheeled subjects, the etch usually includes most or all of the suspension. Hand builts generally well finished. Made in France.
