Aston Martin DB3R Tasman 1956 #1 Parnell by Jade Miniatures

Aston Martin DP155/DB3R Tasman 1956 Parnell
Hand built available JAD4398M
This prototype was originally laid down by Aston Martin in 1953 as a Grand Prix car but the project was abandoned until late in 1955 when Reg Parnell requested it be built up for him to race in New Zealand early in 1956. In the first outing, the New Zealand Grand Prix, the car threw a rod in practice but it was repaired and Parnell finished fourth in the Lady Wigram Trophy, second at Dunedin and third at Invercargill. Jade have managed to find photos of the car from each of the races that it started and they have done a pretty good job of the shape. The kit is in Jade’s typical easy to build style and is well cast with simple etch for the suspension. The car wore #1 on each outing but there were subtle changes in number placement, so kit builders have a choice of races.

About Jade Miniatures

A well established range of well thought out kits and hand built models of competition cars, mostly from the golden era of the 1950s and 60s. The kits are generally pretty simple with well cast resin bodies, small numbers of resin and white metal ancillaries and a modest amount of etch. In the case of open wheeled subjects, the etch usually includes most or all of the suspension. Hand builts generally well finished. Made in France.
