Austin Healey 100/6 Monte C 1958 Wisdom by K & R Replicas

These two kits depict the same car from two very different events. OUC 741 was the original six cylinder Healey press car and racing driver and journalist Tommy Wisdom persuaded Donald Healey to prepare the car for the Sestriere rally, where he won his class co-driven by his daughter Ann (later to co-drive Pat Moss). This success led to another outing on the Mille Miglia and another class win, this time the car had been quite modified including the fitting of a special cut down windscreen. Wisdom drove the car on a few more events in 1957 and then entered the Monte Carlo rally in 1958 with it, though he and all bar one of the Paris starters were eliminated before they reached Monaco due to snow. The core parts in both kits are very similar, with the differences being to the windscreen and the addition of a hard top roof for the Monte car. Wheels are in kit form and apart from the etched spokes there are also etched parts for grilles and a few other odds and ends. The decals are very basic and we’re pretty sure should include number plates for the Mille Miglia car as well as the Monte one, though K&R’s instruction photos don’t show them.

About K & R Replicas

Well cast and easy to build, if rather crude, metal kits. Usually accurate though occasionally a bit odd. Wire wheels of the self - assembly type. Decals, when included, often slightly yellow (typical of many English makers) but will bleach with exposure to u.v. light. Now including a little more photo-etch. Made in England.
