BMC’s Competitions Department was founded in 1955 and the car used by Nancy Mitchell on the 1956 Viking rally was the same machine that had started the team’s activities on the previous year’s Monte. Mitchell’s Viking finish was one of several during the year and she won the European Ladies title as a result. Dick Jacobs’ mount for the Daily Express Trophy meeting at Silverstone also saw plenty of action on circuits and rallies and on this particular outing he finished ninth overall and won his class. The castings this time are a little rough in places so will need some fettling before paint. That done they will be simple builds and the small details such as the additional roof mounted wiper for the rally car are well observed.
Well cast and easy to build, if rather crude, metal kits. Usually accurate though occasionally a bit odd. Wire wheels of the self - assembly type. Decals, when included, often slightly yellow (typical of many English makers) but will bleach with exposure to u.v. light. Now including a little more photo-etch. Made in England.
