The MG B was a versatile competitor and the three specific cars modelled here all had very varied histories. The Morley brothers drove 7 DBL to class victory on the Monte Carlo rally in 1964 but the car had already competed in the Sebring 12 Hours, Spa 500kms and Le Mans 24 Hours the previous year! Sister car 8 DBL had been used as a test and training car largely between its build in 1963 and outright victory in the Guards 1000 mile race at Brands Hatch in 1965 and had again covered many competitive miles. This was a slightly controversial win as the race was for private entrants in production cars and although not entered by the factory, it was pretty obviously a works effort. Hardest working of all was GRX 307D which was known within the BMC Competitions Department as “Old Faithful”. She started 1966 on the Monte Carlo rally, won her class on the Targa Florio, finished third in the GT class in Mugello (the option offered here), won outright on the 84 hour Marathon de la Route, scored another class win in the Spa 1000kms and finished third in class in the Montlhery 1000kms. Quite a record. The kits all share very similar components and, as with the Sunbeam Alpine, are based on the standard road car parts. There are additional race fillers to add and the instructions include details of these. Wheels in all are wires and supplied in kit form and the decals are clearly printed. The hard tops are separate pieces so painting will be simplified for the red and white Monte Carlo and Mugello cars.
