Ferrari 246 Italy 1959 by K & R Replicas
There are plenty of options in all of these kits and you’ll have to pay close attention to versions modelled. The core body casting is the same in all with the ugly, short nose seen in Monaco on all of the bodies and for the events with the rather more elegant streamlined front end there is an additional casting that simply plugs in. By 1959, the days of the front engined Grand Prix car were numbered and the best results that any of these scored was second in each of the 1959 races behind Coopers each time. By 1960 things were worse and Von Tripps & Hill were sixth and seventh at Silverstone. The most unusual option offered here is Hill’s US GP mount which was finished in dark blue with a white nose flash and the decals for this version are rather yellow. No issues with any of the other decals though and we see a reasonable amount of etch included for dash panels and a grilles as well as those wheel spokes. Overall these are well thought outr kits that show K&R making advances in their kit design.

About K & R Replicas
Well cast and easy to build, if rather crude, metal kits. Usually accurate though occasionally a bit odd. Wire wheels of the self - assembly type. Decals, when included, often slightly yellow (typical of many English makers) but will bleach with exposure to u.v. light. Now including a little more photo-etch. Made in England.
