Desert Warrior Dakar 2013 #353 by MEA Kit 43
Desert Warrior 3 Dakar 2013 #353
Kit also available MEA055
Built by British specialist vehicle makers RaBe, the Desert Warrior 3 may look like a Range Rover Evoque but only the lights and windscreen are common to this silhouette racer. It certainly looks the part and is powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo BMW diesel engine providing plenty of oomph. The car wowed the crowds on the opening day of the Dakar but was withdrawn before the second leg, for what reason we’re unsure. MEA’s model captures the basic shape and the decals are neatly placed, but otherwise the build quality is very poor indeed with rough detail painting, glue marks and a windscreen that is nowhere near square in its hole. Builders of the kit when that arrives will be able to do a much better job.

About MEA Kit 43
An interesting range initially specialising in 1:43 motorcycles. The nature of the subjects and the size of many of the parts mean that these are best suited to those with good eyesight! Casting quality is variable and this combined with the size puts them firmly in the 'for the experienced modeller' category.
Alongside the bikes are a number of Dakar raid subjects and early Lotus race cars, again offered as kits and hand builts. The SPL series is hand built only and concentrates on very unusual race cars. Build quality is basic, variable and nowhere near the class leaders and usually presented in recycled Spark cases. Very interesting subjects that may otherwise not be modelled and therefore for the hardcore collector.
Made in France.
