We were quite surprised when Modellismo 90 announced Vauxhall Magnums as subjects as we usually associate them with F1 kits and when we asked why the answer was “Because I like them”. Can’t say fairer than that! The kit is relatively simple with a well-proportioned resin body and chassis tub in a similar style to a Mini Racing kit, resin for the dashboard and separate front seats and then white metal for bumpers, wheels, the roll cage and grille insert. There is a fair amount of etch for grilles, wipers, the window frames (to be used with flat acetate) and trim details including seat belt buckles and adhesive webbing is included for the belts themselves. The instructions clearly show where all of the etched parts should go and include easy to follow drawings for decal placement. It is suggested that you cut the side stripes to prevent colour bleed through the number backings but that is your choice. There are two options in the kit, the cars of Airikkala from Finland and Sparrow on the RAC. There is a small error on this decal sheet as the DTV Sportsparts logo on the front wing should read DTV Sportparts. An easy fix with careful trimming out of the middle letter S.
