Ferrari 512M 2nd Tour De France 1971 #142 Escuderia Montjuich by Montegrosso
At
the end of 1971 the 512 M was abandoned by Ferrari (which preferred to focus on
the 312 PB that already complied with the new regulations in force from the
following year) and sold to private teams. The car's most significant
achievement in 1971 was undoubtedly the grueling Tour de France in September.
Juncadella, Jean-Pierre Jabouille, and Jean-Claude Guenard finished second
behind an official Matra MS650 and took victory in the over-three-liter GT/S
category. The Tour de France Automobile was an automobile competition that
crossed all of France and consisted of special stages on both open roads and
race tracks. The car,
painted in classic "Scuderia Montjuich" yellow, was equipped with
four additional headlights on the nose, a feature of rally cars.
