Gloeckler-Porsche 356 Special Coupe 1954 by Matrix
Frankfurt car dealer Walter Gloeckler built a number of racing specials on VW, and later Porsche, mechanical parts and the car modelled here is the last of those. His cars had attracted the attention of Porsche and for this one off special, designed to contest the 1954 Mille Miglia, he was provided with the new ‘Carrera’ engine, this being the first car that it was fitted to. Unfortunately problems with the engine on the Liege-Rome-Liege event mean that it didn’t start the Mille Miglia and was retired. The model depicts this very distinctive machine as it survives today and in terms of shape looks very good. The fit of the etched window frames around the top of the huge wrap-around rear screen isn’t the best but the remaining detail parts are neatly placed and the paint finish is excellent.

About Matrix
From the original creators of the Neo range, this resincast series offers a wide range of mostly road car subjects. Some are very familiar classics but we also see plenty of very rare and usual machines ranging from Maharajah's Rolls Royces to Citroen and Volvo limousines! Overall casting quality is excellent, paint finishes usually to a very high standard and plenty of fine etch used for small trim. Wire wheels on some subjects can be a little unconvincing but otherwise very consistent. Made in China.
