Lola T70 MK3 Brands Hatch 500 1967 #2 Surtees/Hobbs by Spark
Lola T70 Mk3 BOAC 500 1967 #2 Surtees
The Lola T70s proved their speed but not reliability at Brands Hatch, the Sid Taylor car starting from pole and the Surtees machine alongside on the front row. Both led the race, Hulme breaking the lap record first in the white car, then Surtees. The red car suffered carburettor problems which caused lean running and melted pistons, while the white machine had valve gear problems and retired eventually with clutch failure. There are plenty of photos of the cars around and Spark have done a fine job of capturing the smaller details with various winglets and gurney flaps, the spare wheel mountings (horizontal for Surtees, vertical for Taylor) and the rather makeshift luggage box under the tail all neatly made in photo-etch for the red car.

About Spark
The range which changed the 1:43 model market and for which we coined the term 'resincast'. Resin rather than traditional diecast bodies mean that relatively short production runs can be made and what might be marginal subjects become viable. Quality is very consistent with plenty of fine etch used where necessary. A huge range is the result, covering all aspects of (mostly postwar) motorsport and a wide variety of road cars. We typically see around 30 new subjects released per month and pre-orders are strongly recommended. Made in China & Madagascar.
