Ford GT40 Mk2 1st Le Mans 1966
Ford’s first Le Mans winner is very smartly reproduced here. As we expect from Spark the overall shape looks good and the main paint finish is excellent. The decals are carefully placed and include the New Zealand fern frond on the drivers’ side which has been missed by some model producers in the past. The seat surfaces with their cooling eyelets are reproduced as decals, which works fine from shelf distance and there are reasonably realistic seat belts. Externally there are some nice detail touches such as ventilation panels in the side windows fitted on etched ‘hinges’ and fine retaining wires for the etched bonnet pins.

The range which changed the 1:43 model market and for which we coined the term 'resincast'. Resin rather than traditional diecast bodies mean that relatively short production runs can be made and what might be marginal subjects become viable. Quality is very consistent with plenty of fine etch used where necessary. A huge range is the result, covering all aspects of (mostly postwar) motorsport and a wide variety of road cars.
