Citroen DS3 WRC 4th Mexico 2011 #11 Solberg/Patterson by Spark
We’ve already seen a couple of works versions of the new Citroen DS3 modelled by Spark and now it’s the turn of the leading Citroen privateers. In the snow of Sweden Kimi Raikkonen finished in a solid eighth position having rarely been outside the top ten all event. The rather more experienced Petter Solberg won several stages on the next event in Mexico and finished a fine fourth, despite having had major engine problems on day one which dropped him several minutes behind the leaders. Both cars are strikingly decorated and have been neatly modelled. On the Solberg car we see mirror tinted windows and even the tyre treads are different for the different surfaces.

The range which changed the 1:43 model market and for which we coined the term 'resincast'. Resin rather than traditional diecast bodies mean that relatively short production runs can be made and what might be marginal subjects become viable. Quality is very consistent with plenty of fine etch used where necessary. A huge range is the result, covering all aspects of (mostly postwar) motorsport and a wide variety of road cars.
