Ford GT40 Mk2 1st Le Mans 1966 #2 Amon/McLaren by Spark
Ford GT40 Mk2 1st Le Mans 1966
Alternative version SPK4075 2nd & SPK4076 3rd
It’s appropriate that this has arrived in the week before the fiftieth anniversary of the car’s win which also sees the Ford marque returning to Le Mans with a factory effort. The car of Amon and McLaren was one of eight factory backed machines in the race and the black and silver livery is smartly replicated. We see fine etched parts for the rear Gurney flap spoiler, wiper, front jacking points and the front bonnet pins with their securing wires. Due to personal sponsorship commitments, McLaren and Amon started the race of Firestone tyres but switched to Ford’s usual Goodyears as they were better in the changeable conditions and it is the latter tyre marking that we see.

About Spark
The range which changed the 1:43 model market and for which we coined the term 'resincast'. Resin rather than traditional diecast bodies mean that relatively short production runs can be made and what might be marginal subjects become viable. Quality is very consistent with plenty of fine etch used where necessary. A huge range is the result, covering all aspects of (mostly postwar) motorsport and a wide variety of road cars. We typically see around 30 new subjects released per month and pre-orders are strongly recommended. Made in China & Madagascar.
