Porsche 911 GT1-98 1st Le Mans 1998 Such was the development of the GT1 cars that by 1998 they were closer to Group C prototypes than the road cars that they were allegedly based on and significantly quicker than the open LMP machines. Porsche’s GT1 was the fastest of the cars at Le Mans and the car that eventually won was consistently in the top four so as others hit trouble Porsche capitalised. It was a fine looking machine and Spark has done an excellent job of the shape and the decorations. Etch is used for most of the rear wing and we see lots of subtle carbon decaling.
The range which changed the 1:43 model market and for which we coined the term 'resincast'. Resin rather than traditional diecast bodies mean that relatively short production runs can be made and what might be marginal subjects become viable. Quality is very consistent with plenty of fine etch used where necessary. A huge range is the result, covering all aspects of (mostly postwar) motorsport and a wide variety of road cars. We typically see around 30 new subjects released per month and pre-orders are strongly recommended. Made in China & Madagascar.
